The power grid’s accelerating transformation dominates utility industry decisions in more and more obvious ways. However, despite all of the change utilities are navigating, their most basic mission remains the same: the uninterrupted delivery of safe and affordable electricity. This means decisions around how utilities design overhead lines and choose conductors and other equipment need to be approached deliberately and with the benefit of experience and expertise. In this series, we cover:
- Overhead line design principles
- Strategic undergrounding and high voltage installation
- Intelligent grid/services

⬆Ep. 1
Overhead Line Design Principles
In Ep 01 of “Ensuring Grid Resilience in a Time of Change” we are going to discuss how the demands of overhead line design are changing and what utilities can do to improve their approach to this still critically important task.
Ep. 2
Strategic Undergrounding and High Voltage Installation
Utilities are increasingly interested in exploring the possibility of installing both high voltage transmission lines as well as medium voltage distribution lines underground. In Ep 02 we are going to talk through some of the reasons utilities are considering what we will call strategic undergrounding these days as well as best practices for designing and installing underground lines in more detail.
