Eos Group, a leader in cost estimating solutions for the utility industry, today announced the release of the 2025 edition (Rev 12) of its Eos High Voltage Knowledgebase. This comprehensive update includes significant enhancements designed to help electric utilities, design engineers, and contractors streamline their estimating processes for transmission, distribution, and substation projects.
Updated Pricing and Expanded Coverage
The 2025 release features fully updated pricing that reflects current market conditions through January 2025. Notable pricing changes include increases in synthetic rubber (11.7%), copper wire and cable (6.7%), and switchgear and switchboards (6.1%), while steel prices have decreased. Labor rates have also been updated to reflect a 6% increase in lineman wages, while diesel fuel prices for equipment operation have dropped by 5.7%.
Major Content Additions
"This latest release demonstrates our ongoing commitment to providing the most comprehensive and up-to-date estimating resources for the high voltage sector," said Nick Papadopoulos, CEO of Eos Group. "With expanded coverage in critical areas like HTLS conductors and Battery Energy Storage Systems, our clients can create more accurate estimates for today's evolving power infrastructure projects."
Key content additions include:
- Enhanced Conductor Options: Added and modified numerous bare aluminum conductor items to include High-Temperature Low-Sag (HTLS) conductors with composite or carbon fiber cores, along with associated conductor clamps, tension connections, and splices.
- USDA RUS Standard Structures: Added assemblies for distribution structures designed to USDA Rural Utilities Service standards, including wood poles, pole top fit out, grounding, and guying, with 128 assemblies for single circuit 12.47/7.2 kV distribution line structures.
- Transmission Line Reconductoring: New model for Overhead High Voltage Transmission Line Reconductoring with supporting assemblies and items.
- Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS): Two new models for Battery Energy Storage System implementation—one using generic BESS units and another specifically for Tesla Megapacks—with all required supporting assemblies and items.
- Yard Lighting: Added LED yard lighting assemblies and items.
Industry-Leading Content Depth
The Eos High Voltage Knowledgebase now contains over 52,000 items organized in 600 phases, more than 350 assemblies, and 34 parametric cost models. This extensive library enables users to create detailed estimates for high voltage (69kV to 765kV), medium voltage (1000V to 48kV), and low voltage (600V) applications.
About Eos High Voltage Knowledgebase
The Eos High Voltage Knowledgebase provides parametric cost models for creating both conceptual and detailed estimates for transmission lines, switchyards, and substations. It helps utilities, facility owners, design engineers, and contractors involved in electric power delivery produce estimates in a fraction of the time required by traditional item-by-item takeoff processes.
