Innovations in Demand Flexibility: SMUD/Uplight
My Energy Optimizer (MEO) program
SMUD and Uplight developed Predictive Capacity Dispatch (PCD), a suite of advanced tools enabling precise demand response forecasting and reducing peak load variability, achieving 98% forecast accuracy and 5% fewer customer opt-outs.
Innovations in Technology: WeaveGrid
Distribution-Integrated Smart Charging Orchestration (DISCO)
WeaveGrid’s patented software optimizes EV charging at the distribution level, preventing infrastructure overload. Deployed with major utilities, DISCO has demonstrated a 45% peak load reduction for large EV groups.
Leadership in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: Nicor Gas/Walker-Miller
Market Development Initiative (MDI)
MDI fosters diverse trade allies and workforce training, ensuring energy efficiency programs reach underserved communities. The initiative provides business coaching and hands-on training, leading to long-term employment opportunities.
Marketing & Customer Experience – Residential: NTC
Energy Efficiency Kit School Program Louisiana
NTC expanded its energy efficiency program to underserved communities in Louisiana, engaging students and families to drive energy savings of 2,481.78 MWh and 257.71 kW reduction across two partner utilities.
Program Design & Implementation – Commercial/Industrial: SAWS/Cascade Energy/CPS
Energy Strategy Program
San Antonio Water System’s strategic energy initiatives, including demand response optimization and energy management, have reduced peak demand by 7MW and saved over 10M kWh through operational efficiencies.
Program Design & Implementation – Residential: Kambo Energy
Community Power
Kambo Energy partners with Indigenous communities to improve housing conditions through energy-efficient upgrades and infrastructure assessments, supporting over 60 Nations across Canada since 2016.

Joule Mentor of the Year
Gillian Saidman, C+C
A dedicated mentor and leader, Gillian has profoundly impacted her mentees by offering thoughtful, strategic guidance. Her contributions to the AESP Ontario Chapter board have been inspiring, and she has helped shape the next generation of energy professionals. Passionate about energy efficiency, Gillian’s work focuses on empowering underserved communities and promoting inclusive energy solutions.
Leadership in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion – Individual
Megan Bennett, Summerhill
As Vice-President of Business Operations, Megan is a champion for DEI in the energy sector. She leads Summerhill’s corporate DEI strategy and hosts the Plugged In podcast, amplifying diverse voices on energy and climate issues. A founding member and Director of Communications for StepUp, she continues to drive meaningful conversations about social justice and clean energy.
