Kris-Tech Wire, a U.S. manufacturer of insulated copper wire and cable products for building, commercial, utility, and solar applications, is celebrating 40 years in business. Since its founding, the company has launched several dynamic product lines, including a tray cable division, tracer wire products and accessories, electrical transmission, and solar wire for utility and commercial installations.
Kris-Tech Wire was founded in August 1984 by Gerry and Glenn Brodock in Rome, NY, also known as the Copper City. After serving in World War II and retiring from successful careers in the copper industry, the twin brothers started the company armed with a vision to create an enterprise that cared as much about its employees as it did the industry.
Forty years later, Kris-Tech is a leading national copper wire and cable manufacturer with two locations, including one in Houston, TX. All the company’s wire and cable solutions are made at its Rome, NY headquarters, supporting projects in the building, commercial, utility, and energy markets.
As a third-generation, family-owned business, the company calls its way of doing business the Kris-Tech Way. Kris-Tech and its employees strive to build long-lasting, supportive partnerships with every co-worker, customer, partner, and community they call home.
“Everything we do begins and ends with our people,” Kris-Tech Wire President and CEO Graham Brodock said. “As long as we attract, hire, and develop the very best people, there are few things we won’t be able to do.”
Beyond the company’s push to expand its product line into new industries, Kris-Tech is proud to grow its roots in the community and region. The company was recently honored as a Mohawk Valley GEAR (Growth, Energy, and Revitalize) award recipient for 2024 by the CNY Business Journal and received the Chamber Alliance of the Mohawk Valley’s William K. Guglielmo Legacy Award.
“It’s been such a privilege to contribute in some small way to our community and its people,” Brodock said. “Businesses have a unique and important opportunity to positively impact the communities in which they operate. Kris-Tech has always held this as a responsibility that we have long practiced and will long endure.”
Each year, Kris-Tech volunteers in a wide range of community events, including Rome’s Honor America Days parade, local Red Cross blood drives, and regional Relay for Life events. Additionally, the company participates in numerous volunteer projects, including school supply and coat drives, and charitable donations to local causes.
As the company embarks on its next 40 years, several critical projects are wrapping up, including a massive new expansion that increases Kris-Tech's manufacturing footprint. It is also looking toward developing and launching new products to serve existing and emerging industries.
“We’re as excited today as we were on day one,” Brodock said. “We’re looking forward to many years of learning and growing ahead of us.”
