Burns & McDonnell recently attained the (ISO) 27001 certification, the most widely recognized standard for information security management systems. The firm’s information technology (IT) group worked with a third-party auditor to confirm meeting requirements set by the International Organization for Standardization.
“Attaining the ISO 27001 certification is a demonstration of our commitment to protecting company and client information,” says Jordan Allen, a section manager in the Networks, Integration & Automation Group at Burns & McDonnell. “This certification will prove valuable as we pursue projects with international clients that have rigorous requirements for our IT systems. Achieving the ISO 27001 certification gives us instant credibility with our clients. Our clients know we will maintain the confidentiality of their data, and have the certifications to prove it.”
Many clients require additional security certification measures to protect their complex and confidential information before working with firms. The ISO 27001 certification provides confirmation that Burns & McDonnell continues to meet increased security requirements, giving clients confidence the firm is maintaining high-level security measures.
“The ISO 27001 certification is a differentiator in the industry,” says Oko Buckle, vice president and general manager of the Atlanta office for Burns & McDonnell. “As requirements increase, our firm rises to the occasion to continually help clients overcome their challenges. We intend to continue to meet the requirements needed to maintain the certification, revalidating the international certificate annually.”
