Scott Kicker, Harsh Ahluwalia and Kris Karafa, former Venture Global LNG executives, announced today that they have formed Gen X Energy Partners (“Gen X”). As founding members and managing partners of Gen X, they plan to develop, acquire and invest in power and energy infrastructure projects globally. Scott Kicker stated “With over a trillion dollars of investment needed annually over the next 10 years, there is tremendous opportunity for investments in power and energy infrastructure projects in the world today that offer prudent long term investors attractive and stable returns. Gen X is not about chasing the latest trends, but rather investing in projects that meet the needs for the markets they serve while offering risk adjusted returns and value creation for investors.”
Prior to his role as Senior Vice President at Venture Global LNG, Scott Kicker was President of Asia for The AES Corporation, responsible for AES’ businesses in China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam. In that role, Mr. Kicker oversaw day-to-day operations, portfolio restructuring, and development activities in Asia. Mr. Kicker spent 18 years at AES in various leadership roles and prior to AES worked with Destec Energy in Houston, Texas.
Formerly a Vice President at Venture Global LNG, Harsh Ahluwalia previously served as the Chief Financial and Commercial Officer for Jyoti Americas, an electric transmission tower manufacturer in Houston, Texas, where he oversaw all financing, accounting and supply chain management functions. Prior to Jyoti Americas, Mr. Ahluwalia spent more than 15 years at The AES Corporation in various leadership roles. He is a Fellow of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
Before serving as Vice President at Venture Global LNG, Kris Karafa was Director of Corporate Development at South Louisiana Methanol where he managed the debt financing process for a greenfield methanol plant. He also held various management roles at Bechtel where he supervised construction and business development efforts, in various locations including the Middle East. A graduate of West Point, Mr. Karafa served as an officer in the U.S. Army for nine years.
