Economics and policy, not technology, have seemingly KO'd a test wind turbine that had been planned in the Chesapeake Bay.
The Virginian-Pilot newspaper reports that the partners in the project, Gamesa Energy USA and Huntington Ingalls Newport News Shipbuilding, have suspended work on what was to have been a 479-foot-tall turbine near Cape Charles, Va.
"They cited concerns over federal energy policy and the possible expiration of a renewable energy tax credit among their reasons for halting the effort," the newspaper wrote.
