The U.S. Department of Energy has released the first-ever atlas mapping the potential of carbon dioxide (CO2) storage capacity in North America.
The initiative also helps identify opportunities for enhanced oil-recovery projects that can further increase domestic oil production, enhance energy security and support economic growth across the country.
The North American Carbon Storage Atlas (NACSA) documents the location of 2,250 large stationary carbon dioxide emission sources, which helps to quantify the benefits and opportunities for potential carbon capture, utilization and storage.
