- The solar industry added a record setting 4,751 MW of photovoltaic capacity and 410 MW of concentrating solar last year, according to a report by GTM Research and the Solar Energy Industries Association.
- This brings the total capacity to more than 12,000 MW of PV and 900 MW of concentrating solar in the U.S., according to the report.
- The cost of solar fell 15% during the year.

Solar broke out last year. Costs are coming down and financing arrangements are increasing. There are a couple clouds on the horizon though: utilities have taken note and want to charge rooftop owners more fees. Also, the 30% federal solar investment tax credit expires at the end of 2016.
