- Sempra U.S. Gas & Power, a unit of the California-based Sempra Energy, has hired the London-based AMEC, an engineering and project management company, to design and build out Sempra’s landmark Copper Mountain Solar 3 solar farm near Las Vegas, Nevada.
- The project will be one of the largest photovoltaic (PV) solar plants in the U.S., situated on 1,400 acres of land and generating 250-megawatts (MW) of solar power.
- Once it is completed in 2015, Sempra will sell the power to utilities in the Southwest U.S., PV-Tech reports.
