Andrew Ott will take over as PJM president and CEO when current CEO Terry Boston steps down at the end of the year.
Ott has 18 years of experience with PJM, including experience in energy market restructuring, electricity market design, operations, power-system engineering and system planning. The grid operator said Ott was responsible for implementation of the PJM wholesale electricity markets, including PJM's locational marginal pricing, financial transmission rights, day-ahead energy market and capacity market systems.
“Andy is recognized internationally as a power industry leader and expert, and he will be an outstanding CEO for PJM and its stakeholders," PJM Board Chairman Howard Schneider said in a statement.
Ott also serves as a board member for PJM Technologies and PJM Environmental Information Services.
PJM CEO Terry Boston had announced his plans to retire on Dec. 31, 2015.
“I’m grateful and humbled by the trust that the board has placed in me,” Ott said. “I can assure everyone that our core mission will be unchanged and that we will maintain open communications and the collaborative, productive relationships with members and stakeholders which are crucial to PJM's success.”
