The California Public Utilities Commission ended a fight over the future of net energy metering (NEM) with a May 24 decision that favored solar advocates in defining how an NEM cap will work.
The definition of the cap had pitted investor-owned utilities against a faction wanting to encourage solar installations.
The CPUC members spoke about the benefits that renewable energy sources bring to the state, then voted unanimously in favor of a definition of the cap that will is expected to allow for more distributed generation in the future.
