DistribuTECH 2013 takes over the San Diego Convention Center this week, and important smart grid news is bound to follow. Some of the biggest names in grid tech have already rolled out announcements about partnerships and product releases, though. Here's a look at a handful of the collaborations and demos that have been mentioned ahead of the show:
- Bidgeley and Emerson are working on a deal to get smart thermostats syncing with Bidgeley's energy software.
- Cisco Systems is rolling out a bundle of offerings for its "Connected Grid Solutions," including its Cisco Utility Operational Network Solution, Cisco Connected Grid Design Suite and the Cisco Incident Response and Workforce Enablement Solution.
- GammaTech Computer Corp. announced that it will introduce its new GammaTech Durabook TA10 at DistribuTECH, offering info about the rugged tablets at booth 429.
- Proximetry and Airspan announced Monday that they will be extending their partnership working on smart energy networks technology. Together, the two companies will manage and support LTE, WiMAX, 3G, and Wi-Fi technologies, focusing on scalability and security.
- Dominion-owned DVI announced that it would showcase features for its Edge 1.2 offerings, which cater to voltage optimization and demand response needs, at booth 3045.
- Texas Instruments Incorporated on Monday announced 60 new integrated systems-on-chip (SoCs) for polyphase smart meters, which it will demo at booth 943.
- Energate Inc. announced that its Consumer Connected Demand Response platform for two-way residential demand response would be qualified to use Sensus' FlexNet AMI technology.
- Trilliant announced its SecureMesh WAN 1100 Series update for the Trilliant Communications Platform, which addresses utility needs related to redundancy, bandwidth, security and interoperability.
- BPL Global Ltd. and Corporate Systems Engineering announced last Thursday that they would collaborate on next-gen demand management systems. The tech falls under the umbrella of the Connected Energy smart grid solutions suite that is being shown at DistribuTECH.
- Symmetricom, Inc. announced that it will be showing off its IEEE 1588 timing solutions at DistribuTECH.
- Bill Meehan, Esri's director of utility solutions, will present "What's Next for Utility GIS?" on Tuesday at the show.
- Cyber-Ark's Adam Bosnian will present "Protecting the Privileged: Securing Administrator and Shared Accounts According to NERC CIP" on Thursday at DistribuTECH.
