About two-fifths of new solar generation capacity that came online last year was owned by or contracted to utilities, a study from the Solar Electric Power Association (SEPA)shows.
The utility-controlled capacity – 39% of the 2011 total – came mostly from projects that produce more than 10 MW each.
The rest of the new capacity is in residential and commercial installations.
