- Vivint plans to begin by offering the ChargePoint residential EV stations to homeowners in select California markets.
Dive Insight:
Vivint’s partnership with ChargePoint follows the company’s announcement in May of an exclusive arrangement with Mercedes-Benz Energy to use the automotive company’s batteries in solar-plus-storage installations. In that arrangement, Vivint hopes to leverage the economices of scale gained out of large-scale buildout of battery manufacturing facilities for electric vehicles.
As with the ChargePoint partnership, Vivint plans to begin rolling out those systems in the California market. The companies say the ChargePoint residential EV chargers include an application that enables drivers to schedule charging, start charging remotely and track energy usage and all charging in one place.
“We’re committed to getting everyone behind the wheel of an EV with solutions that enable drivers to charge everywhere they live, work and play,” Colleen Jansen, chief marketing officer at ChargePoint, said in a statement.
